Well.. if you have been keeping track of my R2 Build you'll see I did something interesting with the body. The reasoning behind that is
what I intend to carry over on R6, taking time, lots of patience nad just taking more pride in my droid.
I started using P38 Car Body Filler on the panels to fill all the support parts and to begin the filling and sanding process. There is something quite satisfying about using the filler and have it go on nice and smooth, covering everywhere etc.
Once that was dry, I kind of lost track of time one night. Ended up spending six hours at my desk filling a panel, sanding a dry panel whilst I waited for that one to dry and harden, then refilling any gaps or missed parts etc. Went with my usual 80 grit for the initial levelling, followed by a 180 grit to begin smoothing, 240 grit then a 360 grit.
Once I'm happy with the finish there, I give it a little damp wipe over with a cloth. I've noticed that sometimes things show up after you wet the part a bit, providing I'm happy there are no bumps, gaps or holes I'll then go over it all with a very fine sanding sponge I bought. This helps give it that nice glass finish.
